Hello friend and welcome back to my Sunday blog. I’ve had a busy and fulfilling week away at work and just got back home yesterday for the weekend. Today being Sunday, I thought to write a post on our loving Father and how we can be found by Him. Of all the days of the week, today seems like a lovely day to spend some time in His presence so we can be found by Him.
Here’s a verse that I find intriguing, especially having recently experienced it myself. Jesus is speaking in John 6:44 “If the Father who sent Me does not draw you, then there’s no way you can come to Me.” In a world of ‘You’ve got this’ and ‘you can do this’, it’s unimaginable to think that Christ is telling us we can only come to Him if our Father draws us in. Here’s why I love this verse -it reveals a Father in pursuit of His children. God is letting us know that we are totally dependent on Him, including getting to know Him.
How to be found by God
This has been my experience in the past as I remember spending a decade of my life following after God in my own strength and getting nowhere fast, eventually cooling off to the point of diluting my faith as I sought to mix in other methods of spiritual enlightenment by mainly practicing the Law of Attraction principles.
This time around it’s different because the Father has drawn me unto Himself through His own initiative more than mine. When He started whispering instruction to me, beckoning me come, drawing me in, it was the most intoxicating feeling realizing that the God that made the universe was interested in intricate details of my life. I have since forged a wonderful loving relationship with my Father as He continues to pursue me and draw me in. Dear friend, I want the same for you.
GOD PURSUES HIS CHILDREN RELENTLESSLY
If you are anything like me, and I think you might be since you are reading this, you must be wondering how exactly one can come to know this mighty God on a personal level and relational basis. Here’s my advice to you -ask Him to draw you in. Yes, simply ask Him! He longs to have your attention and to get to spend time with you. He puts it this way in Isaiah 30:18 “the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore, He will rise up to show you compassion.”
He also tells us to simply ask in Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and the gift is yours. Seek, and you’ll discover. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. For every persistent one will get what he asks for. Every persistent seeker will discover what he longs for. And everyone who knocks persistently will one day find an open door.” Do you wonder what it’s like to know your maker? Simply ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
⇓ Practical Application ⇓
Here’s your call to action, simply say these words to your Father, trusting that He is present and that He longs to hear from you. “My Father, I trust you’re here with me. Your word tells me that you love me just as I am, and that you long for me to walk with you each new day. I want the same. Please draw me to yourself and reveal to me your love.’ Ask Him persistently and consistently. Avail yourself to be found by Him by praying this simple prayer every day and see God’s love begin drawing you into the best relationship you’re ever going to have in your entire life. Welcome to my Father’s love.
