Hiya! We’ve been back in the US for exactly a month now and normal life has resumed for us. Travel demands quite a bit out of mundane stable lives, it takes a while to get back into the flow of things, more so when you already travel for a living –it feels nonstop.
I’m back at work. I’m actually typing this post inflight on my commute to Dallas. I’ve had quite a bit of time off, both the last week of November and the first week of December. I stayed home to get over a head cold and my baby sister, Terry, came to visit us for the week. We had long talks into the night through to morning; we didn’t go to bed until 0700 or 0800 the next day. And still it doesn’t feel like it was enough; I keep remembering things we forgot to discuss, things I could have learnt from her, gifts we should have exchanged, etc. Well, she’s back in Washington State now, and I hope I get to see her again soon.
I’ve been working on the GreyDynasty Logo, a sort of rebranding, but not quite, just getting our ducks in a row. Mr. Grey and I have put our heads together to try and come up with a durable logo. We went through this process a couple of years ago, got an official logo and everything, but I changed to what you’re all currently accustomed to with the help of Lisa Winckelmans back when I was in Brussels. It’s not official and hasn’t been vetted, so I’m currently cleaning house and making sure everything is airtight.
As for my YouTube, I finally hit that first miniscule milestone of 100 subscribers. YouTube sent me an email acknowledging this and I was thrilled –finally feels like some sort of progress. I’ve been posting consistently every Friday, but I’m still falling behind on all the content we’ve shot and haven’t posted yet. As the year comes to a close, it’s becoming imperative that I post more than once a week if my content is to remain relevant as some of it is time-sensitive. I’m going to need to double down on my editing and pop that content up sooner rather than later. This will also translate into consuming less content and pushing out more of it.
Also, I added a ‘London’ category to my YouTube channel because it doesn’t really fit under lifestyle coz we are traveling and it doesn’t really fit under ‘Travel’ coz we’re just going home. So I figured since we go often, it deserves a whole category of its own. I’ll be doing the same here on the blog, adding a ‘London Diaries’ tab and moving all the London-related posts there –and there are many.
I’ll also be adding a ‘YouTube’ tab so I can consolidate all my videos on my website as well. Content creation 101 is to have all your social media content leading back to your website, the only platform you control.
I still have SO much to learn when it comes to Pinterest. I have looked into it once or twice but I have yet to dig deeper to fully take advantage of what it has to offer. I am aware of its proven potential and I really should invest some time into it; I should make that my new year goal –to utilize Pinterest fully so as to benefit from all it has to offer, which is a lot.
As the year comes to a close, I seem unaffected by it. But I’m starting to hear all this chatter about year-end, progress, goals… I try to not play into it. Years are a man-made concept and only take on the significance we give them. I’ll use process goals like I did last year.
I try not to stress in my new life. My philosophy is that I’m finally doing everything I love doing, and whatever hurry I am in, I’ll keep doing this to the end. Like my father used to say, who’s counting how long it’s taking; you’re living life while engaged in your endeavour, that’s what counts. So I carry on, slowly but surely making progress.
How about you, what’s been keeping you busy, and do you have any particular plans for the new year? ღ Cheers, Grey xoxo
